As we welcome you back to MC, you'll see additional safety measures in place around the centre to make your next visit a safe one.

The well-being, comfort and safety of our shoppers, retailers and staff remains our number one priority.

We're excited for our retailers to open and while we look forward to seeing you in centre again soon, some of the requirements of entry have changed. We encourage you to get familiar with the Victorian DHHS and Government guidelines and what is required of you when visiting our centres and retailers depending on your vaccination status.

The comfort and safety of our shoppers, retailers, and staff continues to remain our utmost priority. We encourage you to be familiar with the Victorian DHHS and Government guidelines and what is required of you when visiting our centres and retailers depending on your vaccination status.
 
The Victorian government has recently announced some changes to Victoria’s COVID safe settings, which include:
 
  • From 11.59pm on Friday 25th February, masks will no longer be required in most Victorian indoor settings, including shopping centres, retail stores, cafes and restaurants and entertainment venues
  • Density limits removed at hospitality and entertainment venues
  • Vaccination requirements removed for retail stores (e.g. supermarkets, clothing and footwear stores, post offices etc)
    • Proof of double dose vaccination is still required for dining in at cafes, bars and restaurants, along with accessing gyms, entertainment venues, cinemas, and events
    • Proof of double dose vaccination is also required to access personal services, including hairdressers, beauty salons and community premises.
  • Checking-in is no longer required at retail venues where there is no vaccination requirement
    • Check-in is still required at restaurants and entertainment venues via the Service Victoria app to show you’ve had at least two vaccination doses


RESTAURANTS & DINING

In line with VIC Government restrictions hospitality venues and restaurants are allowed to operate for seated service only with the below restrictions:
 
  • All customers must be fully vaccinated
  • Customers must check in with the VIC Services QR code on arrival and provide proof of vaccination
  • All hospitality staff are required to wear a mask whilst working (both indoors and outdoors)
  • Masks are required for all customers over the age of 12 years old when dining indoors


HAIR, MASSAGE AND BEAUTY THERAPY

In line with VIC Government restrictions personal services such as hairdressing, barbers, beauty therapy and personal care are allowed to operate with the below restrictions:

  • All clients must be fully vaccinated 
  • Clients must check in with the VIC Services QR code on arrival and provide proof of vaccination
  • Clients and staff over the age of 12 years old must remain masked for the duration of the appointment


When you're here at MC, we encourage you to:

  • Plan your visit: We have handy shop safe tips on our website including information on best parking suggestions, trading hours, details on essential and non-essential retailers and requirements of entry to ensure your visit is a smooth one
  • Check In: Use the Services Victoria App and check in via QR codes upon entry to Melbourne Central and when visiting each retailer premises.
  • Be Kind: Be respectful to retailers and staff. They're working hard to provide a safe and enjoyable retail experience for all shoppers while abiding by Health & Government orders.
  • Mask Up: Ensure you wear a mask or face covering at all times when visiting MC. This is a mandatory condition of entry unless a valid exemption applies.
  • Practice Physical Distancing: Keeping a social distance of at least 1.5m metres is important for both the safety and comfort of all shoppers, staff and visitors.


We’ve also taken some extra steps within our centre to ensure it is a safe place for you, including:

  • Additional security, customer service staff and COVID-19 Marshals in-centre monitoring check ins, customer flow and COVID safe protocols.
  • Increased cleaning rotations and sanitisation services on top the heightened hygiene measures previously in place.
  • Refreshed COVID Safe messages in-centre reminding visitors of entry conditions and more efficient customer way-finding to help you navigate MC.
